Your inky news August

Welcome to August! It seems we are bursting at the seams with creativity and exciting events for you! Not only do we have TWO official TPG exhibitions launching this month, but our member’s have EIGHT more events for you to feast your eyes on! And of course, we have a selection of workshops for you to get those creative juices flowing! 

This month, we are so excited to announce our first exhibition with Latitudes Online! Our online show, A Sense of Place, will go live on 5 August 2022. 

At the end of August our annual exhibition, TPG2022, will open at The Art Room in Parkhurst. As always, an interactive printmaking demonstration will be hosted by Cloudia Rivett-Carnac at the opening event, which will be held on 28 August at 11h30.

Members Spotlight

TPG would like to CONGRATULATE Kristen McClarty for having two of her latest prints, Layered Annotations and Marginalised Narratives, selected for the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair! Bravo!

Three members of The Printing Girls (Laurel HolmesKristen McClarty and Clare Menck) will be exhibiting with two other exciting Cape based artists (Madeleine van Manen and Jo Roets) in a multi-media exhibition at the prestigious Association for Visual Arts Gallery in Cape Town, next month.  

The exhibition explores their response to a world that is wobbling on its axis. Included in the exhibition will be a combination of traditional and experimental printmaking work (monotype, woodblock, screen print, chine collé and collage) as well as painting and clay work. The exhibition will coincide with the Tenth Anniversary celebrations of First Thursdays in Cape Town, which will be centred around the AVA Gallery in the City Centre.

TPG Member, Lindsay Quirk, is hosting an an exhibition of her students’ prints later this month at 4 Spin Street Gallery.

Kristen McClarty is taking part in Girls Girls Girls, a Women’s Month group exhibition at DOAR Contemporary (Cape Town).

The opening event will take place on 4 August at 18h00. Don’t miss out!
This year Solo Studios (Cape Town) will be on the 26th to the 28th of August and TPG member, Emma Willemse, will be collaborating with Rudolph Willemse and Elizabeth Miller-Vermeulen in the exhibition space at our creative space in Riebeek Kasteel. She will also have works in progress to see in her studio.

Take a break from the busy hustle and bustle of life to view 
Nellien Brewer’s solo show, When You Grow Tired of the City, at the Johan van Heerden Gallery (Pretoria) this month.

The opening event takes place on 7 August at 11h00.
Amy Jane van den Bergh is hosting an exhibition of her Master’s work from her private studio in Pretoria later this month. Come see what the artist has been up to for the last three years. 
RSVP is essential as there is limited space.
This year’s ‘New Vision in Miniature’ online exhibition goes live from the 29th of August – 10 September. The event runs on their 
Facebook and 
Instagram pages.

The Association of Arts Pretoria is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year by hosting a series of group exhibitions and many other festivities throughout the year.

TPG’s members Amy Jane van den BerghCloudia Rivett-CarnacElrie JoubertNicolette Geldenhuys and Mbali Tshabalala are taking part in the first celebratory exhibition, showcasing artists between the ages of 20 and 40 yrs.

The opening event is on 30 July from 10h00 – 13h00. See you there!
